Ambassador Orsolya Zsuzsanna Kovács, a 43-year-old diplomat, lawyer, official and translator, has been serving as Hungary’s diplomatic envoy in Warsaw, Poland since March 2017. President Andrzej Duda lauded her exemplary work to strengthen the ties between Poland and Hungary, two historically friendly nations, during her seven and a half year mission.

"I can say with full responsibility that it is rare in the diplomatic corps to find an ambassador who fulfills her role in such an extraordinary way as Ambassador Orsolya Kovács did during her mission to Poland. She is an extremely active and warm person with an excellent understanding of the Polish way of thinking," Polish President Andrzej Duda said today.

The head of Polish state added that he insisted on the personal presentation of the award because of her outstanding service to both nations, which, as he stressed, it has rarely been done during his presidency to recognize the merits of ambassadors.

Ambassador Orsolya Zsuzsanna Kovácsis the daughter of the famed Hungarian professor of history István Kovács. The godfather of Ambassador Orsolya Kovács was prof. Wacław Felczak, patron of the Institute of Polish-Hungarian Cooperation, historian, courier of the Polish Underground State during World War II and expert on Central Europe, especially Hungary.
